Gerhard Richter: Übermalte Fotografien / Overpainted Photographs Betaalbaar

Standard photographs taken by Gerhard RICHTER himself and developed in an ordinary photo lab – snapshots of family celebrations, people, landscapes or architecture – serve as the basis for seventy-two images, most of them published for the first time, in the catalog volume ‘Overpainting Photographs’ by Gerhard RICHTER. After the daily work on the large paintings in his studio, the Cologne-based artist pulled these photos through the still wet paint on the squeegee. The result is strongly determined by chance and surprising new realities emerge.
