Rinko Kawauchi: Des oiseaux Gratis Retour

Through this collection of photographs of parent swallows raising their young in a nest near her home in Japan, Rinko Kawauchi appears as a still observer to the ceaseless cycle of life. Life’s primal powers will only persist, no matter what the circumstance, and through this realisation, we might find a moment of fresh air and awaken to new courage as we face uncertain days and restrictions during a pandemic. Ornithologist Guilhem Lesaffre’s essay ‘A few grams of elegance’ enhances the collection with a rich insight into the life cycles of the swallow.
